How to Pin a Tweet on X

By the Crowbert teamUpdated June 2026

Quick answer

Open one of your own posts, tap the three-dot menu in its top right corner, and choose Pin to your profile. Confirm, and the post moves to the top of your profile above everything else. Only one post can be pinned at a time, and pinning a new one replaces the old.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Go to your profile

You can only pin posts you published from that account. Find the post on your profile or open it directly.

  2. 2

Tap the three-dot menu on the post

It sits in the top right corner of the post on both web and mobile.

  3. 3

    Select Pin to your profile

A confirmation dialog explains the post will replace any currently pinned post.

  4. 4

    Confirm the pin

The post jumps to the top of your profile with a small Pinned label above it.

  5. 5

Swap or remove it when it goes stale

Use the same menu to unpin, or pin a different post to replace it in one step.

Worth knowing

  • You can only pin your own posts, not someone else's. To surface another account's post, quote it first and pin your quote.
  • Pinning does not boost distribution in the timeline. It only changes what profile visitors see first.

Doing this for a brand, not just an account?

The pinned slot is the closest thing X has to a homepage hero, and reviewing it on a set cadence keeps profile traffic pointed at the current campaign.

Common questions

Can I pin more than one post on X?

No, the profile has a single pinned slot. Pinning a new post automatically replaces the current one, so rotate the slot as your priorities change.

Does pinning a post give it more reach?

Not in the algorithmic timeline. The value is conversion: everyone who clicks through to your profile sees the pinned post first, which makes it prime real estate for a launch or offer.

What should a business pin?

Something with a clear next step: a current launch, a top-performing thread, a case study, or a signup link. Swap it when the campaign ends so the profile never leads with stale news.

Why is Pin to your profile missing from the menu?

You are likely looking at someone else's post, or at a repost rather than your original. The option only appears on posts authored by the logged-in account.
