LinkedIn Post Image Size: 1200 x 627 for Links

By the Crowbert teamUpdated September 2026
1200 x 6271.91:1pixels, recommended

Quick answer

LinkedIn documents 1200 x 627 pixels at a 1.91:1 ratio for a post image accompanying a link, and states the image must be more than 200 pixels wide. Files are PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB.

What the table does not tell you

  • 1200 x 627 is specifically the link-preview size. For an image-only post LinkedIn documents nothing, and a square or 4:5 upload takes more feed height than the 1.91:1 preview does.
  • The 3 MB ceiling is lower than most platforms and catches exported PNGs quickly. JPEG at quality 85 clears it without a visible difference at feed size.
  • Under 200 pixels wide, the custom image is ignored entirely and LinkedIn falls back to whatever it scrapes from the page.
  • LinkedIn feed images are read at roughly half their upload width on desktop. Type set below about 28 pixels in the source file will not survive that.

Common questions

What size should a LinkedIn post image be?

1200 x 627 at 1.91:1 when the post carries a link, which is the size LinkedIn documents. For an image-only post nothing is published, and square or portrait uploads take more feed space.

What is LinkedIn's image file size limit?

3 MB for Pages images, in PNG or JPEG. That is stricter than most platforms and a common reason an upload silently fails.

Why is LinkedIn ignoring my post image?

Most often it is under the documented 200 pixel minimum width, in which case LinkedIn discards it and scrapes the linked page for a replacement.
