How to Pin a Post on Facebook

By the Crowbert teamUpdated June 2026

Quick answer

To pin a post, find it on your Page, profile, or group, tap the three-dot menu in its top-right corner, and select Pin to top. The post stays first on your timeline until you unpin it from the same menu. Pinning works on your own posts, and group admins can pin any group post as a featured post.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open your Page or profile timeline

Go to where the post lives; you can only pin on timelines you manage.

  2. 2

Find the post you want on top

Pick something evergreen: an offer, an announcement, or your best introduction to what you do.

  3. 3

Tap the three-dot menu on the post

It is in the top-right corner of the post.

  4. 4

    Select Pin to top

The post jumps to the first position with a pin icon.

  5. 5

Unpin or swap when it goes stale

Open the same menu and choose Unpin, then pin the replacement.

Worth knowing

  • Pinning changes position on your timeline only; it does not boost the post in anyone's feed.
  • Profiles and Pages can pin multiple posts; the most recently pinned appears first.

Doing this for a brand, not just an account?

The pinned slot is your Page's above-the-fold; rotating it with each campaign is a small task a content calendar should already have on it.

Common questions

Why don't I see Pin to top in the menu?

You can only pin posts on a timeline you manage, and the post must be published, not scheduled. On a Page, you also need a role with content permissions.

How long does a pinned post stay pinned?

Indefinitely, until you unpin it or pin something that displaces it. There is no expiry, which is why stale pinned posts are so common.

Does pinning a post increase its reach?

No. It only changes placement for people who visit your timeline directly. Visitors from search or your bio link see it first, which is where the value comes from.
